Cosmo V. Schembri
Cosmo Vincent Schembri, age 88 of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2015. He was at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on the upper east side of Manhattan on December 11th, 1926 to Charles Schembri and Vivian (Alifi) Schembri. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jarlyn Schembri, his son Charles Schembri and wife Maria Bernal of Davie, Florida, daughter Lauryl Schembri Ryan and husband Ted Ryan of Ridgefield, Connecticut, his sister Frances Jamotta and many nieces and nephews.
In 1944, Cosmo enlisted in the navy and served on the USS Windsor as the ship’s photographer. He travelled the South Pacific until the end of World War II. He later returned to NYC and started a successful business, Cosmo Photographers Inc. In 1955 he was introduced to his wife Jarlyn, on a blind date. She was the absolute love of his life. They married in 1958 and moved to Westchester County to start a family. They were a match made in heaven and lived a beautiful life together. In 1997 they happily retired and moved to Lake Worth, Florida where they enjoyed many happy, healthy years.
Cosmo was loved by all who knew him. He loved music, especially Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. He loved ballroom dancing and liked watching musicals with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. Cosmo had a big personality and was the life of every party. He had an infectious smile and a zest for life. He lived his life fully and he loved deeply. He was a perfect father to his two children and set an excellent example for them to live by. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate his life.
