Ridgefield High School has made it to the top 10 of another list of the state’s best high schools.
This time, the ranking and review site Niche.com has given Ridgefield High School an overall Niche grade of A+, and ranked it number six in the state for its 261 reviews.
The teachers, in particular, earning a score of A+, according to the survey results, available at k12.niche.com.
The lowest mark was a C-, for student culture and diversity.
The website claims that the school has 1,759 students in grades 9-12, with a 96% proficiency rate for math and/or reading.
The student-teacher ratio is 14:1, compared with a national average of 16:1. The school as 125 teachers, according to the website.
The Board of Education welcomes the high ranking, said Christopher Murray, vice chairman of the school board.
“One of the consistently successful things Ridgefield does is hire excellent teachers,” Murray said. “We strive to improve every year, both in the quality of the new hires and the professional development of existing staff. These investments pay off in inspired, quality-conscious teaching and learning.”
To the extent the Niche’s high ranking of teachers helps attract more young families to Ridgefield, “we welcome the good news,” Murray said.
The Board of Education will continue to set a high bar for quality teachers, and thanks its teachers for their inspiration and dedication, he said.
Schools that performed better in the survey were Staples High School in Westport, at number one, followed by Wilton High School at number two, Greenwich High School at number three, New Canaan High School at number four, and Simsbury High School at number five.
Ridgefield High School has also been highly rated in Connecticut by the magazine U.S. News & World Report.
