Stanley Leo Lawrynovicz, Jr., 66, of Sugar Land, Texas (formerly of Ridgefield) died July 30, 2015, after a tough battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on October 30, 1948 in Danbury Hospital. Stan attended St. Mary Grammar School and graduated from Ridgefield High School. Stan also graduated from Villanova University and pursued a master’s degree at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. He spent over 35 years as a manufacturing engineer in the can-making business and he was known for designing the first Coke can printed with Santa on the side.
Stan was an avid hunter, fisherman and target shooter. He was very proud of competing for a spot on the Olympic team at the Olympic Trials in California in .22 pistol. He was a life member of the NRA. He also enjoyed music, especially movie soundtracks and singing in men’s choruses.
Stan leaves unfinished so many projects that he loved to spend his spare time on: restoration of an Austin Healey sports car, his pen and ink drawings, and his business of printing art on metal.
He also leaves behind his loving family; his mother, Florence, of Soundview Road in Ridgefield; his wife of 41 years, Amy; three daughters, Lexie Lawrynovicz, Kerry Lawrynovicz, and Adrian Matzke (Nick) and granddaughter, Kaylee, who called him “Pappy Stan.”
He was predeceased by his father, Stan, Sr. and his sister, Patricia, but remained in loving contact as “Uncle Stan” with her three children, Cynthia Tull, Karen Wooten, and Kristen Watson. Stan returned to Ridgefield faithfully a couple times a year to visit his mother Florence.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2015, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit). A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, 431 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land.
