Ridgefield Police said Monday they expect to make two arrests over vehicle damage on an East Ridge Middle School ball field.

“Through our investigation two individuals have been identified that were responsible for the damage,” wrote Ridgefield Police Capt. Jeff Kreitz in a brief press release that didn’t identify the people, who had had not yet be arrested. “Warrants for their arrest are being applied for through the Danbury Superior Court.”

The field damage in early July appeared to be caused by someone driving a car or other vehicle over the football field.

Police sought tips from the public and obtained video surveillance footage as part of their investigation but did not say whether either of those were the source of leads that led the identification of suspects.

The damage was estimated to cost as much as $20,000 to repair.
