720-AAAFor motorcyclists who love burning up miles or carving corners on Connecticut roadways, AAA Northeast now offers motorcycle roadside assistance to its growing list of benefits.

AAA Plus and Premier members are now eligible for the optional service, which includes battery jumpstarts, tire inflation, fuel delivery and towing up to 100 miles at no charge – (200 miles if you’re a AAA Premier member.) This new service covers an entire member household and is available for an additional $30 fee on existing Plus and Premier memberships.

All registered motorcycles including sidecars, scooters, 3-wheeler vehicles, such as Can-Ams and Spyders; mopeds and motorized or electric bicycles are covered. Excluded are unregistered or unlicensed motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs and off-road motorcycles.

Basic AAA members interested in adding motorcycle coverage may do so if they are eligible for upgrades to AAA Plus. Visit www.aaa.com/membership or call 1-800-222-8252 to determine eligibility.

“We’ve heard from motorcycle riders who want to enjoy AAA’s world-class roadside assistance,” said Mary Wyatt, AAA Northeast’s senior vice president – marketing and publications. “Expanding our coverage into this area not only enhances the value of AAA membership, but also helps keep these members safe at the roadside.”

In AAA Northeast territory of Massachusetts, Rhode Island  and Connecticut, there is an estimated 300,000 registered motorcycles of which there are nearly 90,000 in Connecticut.

To ensure the proper and safe towing and transport of motorcycles, AAA Northeast invested in special equipment in the form of a special cradle or caddy. AAA Northeast roadside technicians will roll and strap down disabled motorcycles onto the cradle. The cradled bike is then pulled onto a flatbed with a trailer deck with a winch. Once on the flatbed, the technician further secures the motorcycle with soft tie-downs. Once secured, the motorcycle is transported to the appropriate destination requested by the member.

AAA Northeast is a not-for-profit auto club with 60 offices in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York providing more than 5.2 million local AAA members with travel, insurance, finance, and auto-related services.
