Barbara Ruschil

Barbara Ruschil, 76, of Ridgefield and formerly of College Point, Queens New York passed away at Danbury Hospital on July 21, 2015. She was the wife of the late Hans Ruschil.

Barbara was born on June 9, 1939 in Glogowatz, Romania of German descent; moved to Vienna, Austria in 1951 and immigrated to the U.S. with her family at the age of 20; a daughter of the late Balthasar and Elisabeth (Heiberger) Straub.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past nine years, coming from College Point, Queens New York, she was a member of St. Mary’s Parish of Ridgefield and formerly of St. Fidelis. She enjoyed planting, gardening and spending time at her lake home in Sherman, CT. She most loved her time spent with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Errol Ruschil and his wife, Christina of Katonah and by her daughter, Lisa (Ruschil) Brand and her husband, Phil of Ridgefield.

In addition to her children, she is survived by six grand children; Marissa, Evan, Noelle, Taylor, Sarah and Katie.

Friends will be received on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:15 am at St. Mary’s Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
