Susan C. Becker of Ridgefield has joined the board of directors of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County.
“Susan’s diverse experience as a leader in both the corporate and volunteer world will be a unique asset to the Cultural Alliance board. She is a person who gets things done and that will certainly make our organization stronger and more successful,” said board President Cindy Vaccaro.
Becker worked for IBM for many years, starting as a software programmer and then a systems engineer. While at IBM, she became a leading application developer and market specialist in the emerging field of multimedia technology. After IBM, she and was president of the Multimedia Design Group, which developed a mobile sales application for the Sci-Fi Channel, which was praised by Advertising Age magazine.
Aside from her professional career, Becker applies her technology and project management skills to various nonprofit and philanthropic endeavors. She serves as a member of the board of trustees for The Wooster School in Danbury, where she has served the Parent’s Association’s Executive Board for many years, as well as various fund-raising and community service events. She has also been a member and chair of various committees of the Newcomers Club of Ridgefield and the Caudatowa Garden Club of Ridgefield.
The Cultural Alliance’s executive director, Angela Whitford, who has known Becker for many years, said, “She brings a wealth of experience and is a lifelong arts patrons. Her energy and enthusiasm are contagious and I know she will help us make great things happen.”
