The town will look into the idea of trying to bring a national chain retailer to downtown Ridgefield, with the idea that it might help improve foot traffic and overall commerce in the village. What kind of retailers might be a good fit, and which ones might be interested in the available spaces are some of the topics being explored. A Gap store was located in the center of Main Street until the national retailer closed it among hundreds of other stores nationwide. Did that help bring shoppers to Ridgefield? Would those chains have a negative impact on smaller, locally owned stores with?
