Summer hours begin at the Graham Dickinson SPIRIT Skate Park Thursday, June 18, with the park opening daily from noon to dusk, seven days a week. Summer passes are available, and summer camps and clinics are coming up.
Summer passes
Summer passes are good for unlimited admission to the park through Aug. 29. They are on sale at the recreation center and the skate park. Passes are $103 for residents and $133 for non-residents. These passes also include a $30 discount on all summer camps and clinics and party rentals. Park access during the summer is also available through 10-visit punch cards ($60 for residents and $102 for non-residents). Daily drop-in rates are $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Skaters 18 years and older are $5.
Camps, clinics
Ramp Camps are half-day skate camps for all ages and all ability levels. They run from 9 to noon Monday through Friday, and include group and individual skate instruction, games and free skate, plus a mid-morning snack.
Ramps Camps are June 22-26, July 13-17, and Aug. 10-14. Fees: $163 for annual members and summer pass holders, $193 for non-members.
Pee Wee Clinic (July 7-9) is a mini camp designed for very young skaters, seven years and under, who have never skated or who need the extra hands on, one-on-one assistance this camp gives. Pee Wee Clinics are from 9 – to noon. Fees: $118 for annual members and summer pass holders, $148 for non-members.
Mighty Mini 3-day Clinic (July 21-23). This new mini camp is for all ages, but offers the same instructor-to-student ratio found in Pee Wee Clinics. This enables older beginners (or Pee Wees) to get comfortable on their skateboards or skates, with plenty of hands-on, individual instruction. The Mighty Mini Clinic runs from 9 to noon. Fees: $118 for annual members and summer pass holders, $148 for non members.
Skate parties
The skate park can be booked for private parties any morning when camps are not in session. Parties include two hours of exclusive use of the park, one monitor supervisor, tables, and a refrigerator/freezer for drinks and refreshments. Cost is $159 for annual members and summer pass holders, $189 for non members. Rates are for up to 16 participants, with each additional guest costing $5. Skate instructors are available for an additional fee of $40/instructor for a two-hour party.
The skate park is at 60 Prospect Street and is open seven days a week, weather permitting. For information or to register, contact the skate park at 203-431-2342, Skate Park Director Linda Caponetti at 203-431-2368, or Ridgefield Parks and Recreation at 203-431-2755.
