Rose Mary Sitar

Rose Mary Sitar, 79 of North Salem, NY, passed away on May 29, 2015 at the Rosary Hill Nursing Home in Hawthorne, NY. She was the beloved wife of Walter Sitar.

Mrs. Sitar was born on February 25, 1936 in New York, NY; a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Gambine) Pisani. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mrs. Sitar is survived by her husband of 57 years, Walter. She is also survived by three sons: Steven, Edward (Robin) and Vincent (Jossene) as well as a daughter, Doris (Michael) Melotik.

In addition to her husband and children, Mrs. Sitar is survived by 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

From her mother’s side (originally from Malta) there are three surviving relatives: Joel, Robert, and Vincent.

Mrs. Sitar by nature was a warrior in loving and defending the Catholic Faith. She could connect to the Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary by suffering, not only a physical illness but also the moral grieve of witnessing the demolition of the Catholic Priesthood after the Vatican II Reforms. As mothers we could relate to her and learn from her; as she was relative to God always. Her temperament was that of a warrior.

She taught her children that the Catholic Tenets were taught in our knees. If one of them veered from the Faith she had no problem to remind us of what are our duties as believers are, telling us what is right or what is wrong, if it was liked or not.

She was generous to everybody in prayers and in material things as well. When confrontations and arguments came across with someone, she was able to back off for Charity sake. To young mothers, she was an example to relate to and learn from, that kind of warrior temperament to survive on this earth so that with the grace of God to get in heaven after death.

Friends will be received on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 6 to 9 pm at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. The Rosary Service will be conducted at 8 pm.

Funeral Services officiated by Fr. Gerardo Zendejas will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11 am at Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield.
