The Ridgefield Library’s Great Expectations gala raised more than $100,000 toward the library’s annual operating budget.
Attending the April 25 event were 250 guests, honoring Ridgefield residents Anita and Nick Donofrio with the presentation of the Hope H. Swenson Visionary Award. The annual award honors those who embody the vision and mission of the library.
“We thank everyone who came to the gala and made it a very special and gracious evening,” said Chris Nolan, director of the Ridgefield Library.
“Funds raised by events such as this are especially important in light of increasing fluctuations in state and local funding,
“ she said. “We are working right now to advocate with the State Appropriations Committee to have state funding restored to the 2014-15 level of support so that we can continue to bring our high level of service to the community.”
