The Candlelight Shoppe, which carries fine lingerie and foundations and is one year shy of its 50th anniversary, is among Main Street Ridgefield’s longest-running stores.  Owner Pam Fitzpatrick has run it since 1982, but her mother, Alda Carboni, started it in 1964. It moved from across the street to its current location, 407 Main Street, in 1992

“I grew up in Ridgefield and was living in Boston when my mother decided to retire,” Ms. Fitzpatrick recalls. “So I stepped in for what I thought would be a few years and have been here since. I love this business and my customers.”

The Candlelight Shoppe carries sleepwear, loungewear and undergarments from leading designers, names like 3 Dots, Marie Jo, Hanky Panky, Simone Perele, Fleur’t, Carole Hochman, Eberjey, Chantelle, Only Hearts and P. J. Salvage.

Ms. Fitzpatrick also provides personalized fittings to match taste and size.

“I take great care in the styles I carry and buy for all ages, shapes, wants and needs,” she said. “I learned all this from my mother. I love making women feel good about themselves.”

She also donates gently used bras and fittings to clients of TBICO (The Bridge to Independence and Career Opportunities) in Danbury. “I learned of the need and am happy to respond.”
