The Ridgefield Fire Department, the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association and Ridgefield High School’s scholarship program for graduating seniors topped the list of 2015 donations recently made by the Ridgefield Woman’s Club.
The donations, monies raised by the club at its major fund-raiser, the Fall Craft Fair, reflect the club’s commitment to supporting local and area organizations that benefit all.
Representatives of the Woman’s Club presented a check to fire Chief KevinTappe and Capt. Rick Lawler to assist the department with the purchase of a portability unit and a carbon dioxide monitor for the training mannequin used by EMT personnel. These additions to the existing equipment will allow for greater mobility and enhanced training efforts. Tappe expressed his appreciation for the donation, noting that the Woman’s Club has been a consistent supporter of the department over the years.
The Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association plans to use the club’s donation to purchase a portable ultrasound machine, which can easily be transported to patients’ homes for onsite diagnostic imaging.
Other organizations to benefit from 2015 club donations include Keeler Tavern, the Historical Society, summer campership programs administered by Ridgefield Parks and Recreation, the Girl Scouts, and the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury.
Club treasurer Susan Van Blarcom was responsible for the disbursement of funds to each organization.
