Town officials and golf enthusiasts are hoping newly completed renovations to the privately managed Snd Trp Restaurant at the Ridgefield Golf Course will mean improvements to early morning service.
The restaurant, operated by dentist Dr. Henry Seeman, has drawn praise for the quality of its food offerings, but also criticism for not being open at 6:30 a.m. as directed under the town agreement, to serve coffee to the early morning golfers.
“He’ll be opening at the proper time and be available for players. That meeting took place at the end of last year’s season,” said First Selectman Rudy Marconi, who said . Seeman agreed going forward to comply with all parts of the contract.
Seeman agreed that coffee will be available during the morning, and said his expanded facility will be something people appreciate.
“I think the food is good, and we’ve made a good stride,” Seeman said. He is looking into the possibility of offering dinner as well, by popular demand.
“A lot of people have interest in evening dinners, too, because of the location and the view,” he said.
The expanded Snd Trp will have an open house Sunday, May 3, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the golf course on Ridgebury Road, complete with sample tastings from the chefs and complimentary Captain Lawrence India Pale Ale on tap.
Over the winter, the restaurant space was expanded within the existing building and now has a new bar area, larger dining room, larger outdoor deck, and updated equipment.
The menu is one of the best Marconi said he has seen.
“I see with the upgrade to the facility, hopefully people will take advantage of that when they visit the golf course to play a round, or just play nine holes and have dinner,” Marconi said.
“Now with the improvements, it really looks like a restaurant at a golf course. Hopefully, it will reflect in the revenues we see from residents and non-residents playing golf,” Marconi said.
Open house Sunday
An open house at the Snd Trp, the Ridgefield Golf Course restaurant, will be held Sunday, May 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. A raffle for new Ping irons will benefit the Ridgefield Golf Course Improvement Fund.
