Broadway’s current stars are coming to dance at The Ridgefield Playhouse in “Gotta Dance!”, an extravagant showcase of today’s best dancers, on Friday, May 8, at 8 p.m.
The hottest choreography and show-stopping numbers that have made musical theater history are the focus of this creative event. This dance extravaganza will bring Broadway to Ridgefield and is recommended for ages 8 & up. Featuring six of today’s leading Broadway dancers backed up by two Broadway vocalists and a live Broadway band, the cast will perform a rich repertoire of the most sensational show-off dances including “Sing, Sing, Sing” (Dancin’), “Out of My Dreams”(Oklahoma!), “Come To Me, Bend To Me” (Brigadoon), “Dance At The Gym” (West Side Story), “Lonely Town Ballet” (On The Town), “Mame” (Mame), “All That Jazz” and “Razzle Dazzle” (Chicago), “Rich Man’s Frug” (Sweet Charity), “Steam Heat” (The Pajama Game), “Cabaret” (Cabaret), “Luck Be A Lady” (Guys And Dolls), “Memory” (Cats), “Buenos Aires” (Evita), “Everything I Know” (In The Heights), “She’s Got A Way” (Movin’ Out), “Falling Slowly” (Once), “Santa Fe” (Newsies), “You Can’t Stop The Beat” (Hairspray), “One” (A Chorus Line), “Dancing Queen” (Mamma Mia!), and the list goes on!
The stars of the show are Purdie Baumann, Samantha Farrow, Adam Flemming, Josh Green, Lindsay Janisse, and Jeffrey Sousa with Liz Pearce-Diennet, Tiffany Haas and Daniel C. Levine. The creative team for this new show includes director Daniel C. Levine (Les Misérables, Chicago) , choreographer Mark Myars (Wicked, If/Then) and Music Director Bryan Perri, the current conductor for Wicked whose other credits include Chaplin. For dinner-and-a-show, Bernard’s (20 West Lane, Ridgefield) is offering a special prix-fixe menu the night of this event when tickets are presented; reservations suggested. This event is partially underwritten by Fred Astaire Dance Studio and is part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series.
In this multi-sensory show, celebrities and Tony Award Winning choreographers will make video appearances to share backstage stories and their favorite clips of blockbuster dance performances. “This show is two hours of non-stop dancing and has been thrilling theater loving audiences around the country. It features the show-stopping numbers of award-winning choreographers performed by multi-talented Broadway artists and is a must for anyone who appreciates high-stepping high quality live performance”, commented show Director Daniel C. Levine who brought “Broadway Backstage” to the Playhouse in 2012 and 2013. Levine serves on the Playhouse’s Artistic Advisory Board.
