Rosemary F. Uhl, 87, died on March 26 at Bethel Health Care. She was born on March 25, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Leo and Marianne Franzen.
She grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Little Flower Catholic Girls High School in 1946. After marrying Joseph Uhl in 1950 she moved to Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; Mt. Prospect, Ill.; and Morristown, N.J.
She worked for Bell Labs in New Jersey and then as a passport agent for Morris County until the age of 83.
A fall in 2012 brought her to Ridgefield, to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Mari Leslie and Paul Vuilleumier.
She enjoyed bridge and loved to travel, visiting Egypt, Thailand, Russia, England, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and France. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching sports and reading.
“She had a love of life and was always reading to learn about new things, people and places,” her family said.
Her fondest memory was riding an elephant in Thailand, her family said, and her favorite place to relax was Stone Harbor, N.J.
She is survived by a daughter, Mari Leslie Vuilleumier, and her husband, Paul Vuilleumier, of Ridgefield, a granddaughter, Caroline Vuilleumier, and her husband, Derek Welch, of Boston, Mass. and a grandson, Andrew Vuilleumier of New York City.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, on May 23 at 10:15 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Ridgefield Library, 472 Main Street, Ridgefield CT 06877.
