The Rotary Club of Ridgefield is accepting applications from local nonprofit organizations for financial grants in 2015.

Last year, the club contributed more than $25,000 to local causes. In past years, in addition to funding scholarships of up to $10,000 for Ridgefield High School students, the club has donated funds to organizations including A Better Chance of Ridgefield, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, OWLS, the Ridgefield Community Center, the League of Women Voters, Meals on Wheels of Ridgefield Inc., Rides for Ridgefield, Keeler Tavern, Project Resilience, Ridgefield Little League, CHIRP, Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities (ECAD), Ridgefield Chorale, and many more.

The deadline for applications and all supporting documents is Friday, May 1. Applications are available at ridgefieldrotary.org and may be submitted online or returned by hard copy to the Rotary Club of Ridgefield, P.O. Box 41, Ridgefield CT 06877.

Rotary raises money through a variety of promotions and events, including the Taste of Ridgefield in January and the upcoming Ridgefield Gone Country BBQ Festival May 2 and 3. The club’s special programs raise earmarked funds, such as the Fly the Colors initiative, which is targeted to help veterans and their families.

The club meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Tom Tom’s, and the first and third Friday of the month for breakfast meetings at 8 a.m. at Dimitri’s Diner.
