Ridgefield Folk kicks off Sunday

Ridgefield Folk, the library’s live music series, kicks off the spring season with Claudia Russell on Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m.

Russell is a singer and songwriter who has shared stages with Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer, Loudon Wainwright III, Steve Forbert, Kris Kristoffersen, Willie Nelson, and Darryl Purpose, among many others. She will be accompanied by Bruce Kaplan on mandolin, guitar and vocals.

Boston’s WUMB FM named Russell the Best New Artist of 2000, the East Bay Express named her Best Musician in 2006, and she has twice been selected as a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition and was a 2004 finalist in the Sisters Folk Festival Songwriters contest in Bend, Ore., and the 2002 KRCL Songwriting contest in Salt Lake City.

Ridgefield Folk is made possible thanks to the Friends of the Ridgefield Library. Free tickets may be picked up from the door on the day of the show starting at 1 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 and the show starts at 2.
