Reconciliation is a deeply personal matter, according to Carlene Demiany, who will speak from experience on the topic of healing broken, conflicted, or hurt relationships at the First Congregational Church on Sunday, April 19.

In her presentation, Demiany will describe the project she imagined, planned, and completed to bring about reconciliation in her own family, as well as reflecting on spiritual and theological resources for healing relationships. The event will be held in Lund Hall at the church beginning at 11:30 a.m. The wider community is especially invited to this significant program.

Demiany serves as teaching minister at the church, where she has been involved in ministry in a part-time capacity for five years. She first came to the Ridgefield church from Yale Divinity School as an intern and has been engaged teaching adults, youth, and children ever since. Her ministry also extends to developing caring relationships with older members of the congregation through home visits and other contacts.

The Rev. Karen Halac, the church’s associate minister, will preach during morning worship at both the 8:30 and 10 a.m. services on the theme About-Face and Let It Go, But How? Worship music for Sunday includes gospel anthems by the church’s music interns from Western Connecticut State University. Senior minister Dr. Charles Hambrick-Stowe speaks at the adult Sunday Morning in the Commons program at 8:30 on his upcoming sabbatical project dealing with spiritual practices rooted in the experience of early New Englanders.
