The mandatory ingredient for the appetizer round of Founders Hall’s Battle of the Chefs will be divulged on the online food chat show Stir Crazy at noon on Thursday, April 23, on theridgefieldpress.com home page.
Battle of the Chefs will pit three area chefs against each other on Sunday, May 17, at Founders Hall, for which it is a fund-raiser.
Chefs Silvia Bianco, Bernard Bouissou, and Prasad Chirnomula will learn Thursday what the ingredient is that they must use in the appetizer course of the competition.
After preparing their appetizers at the battle, the chefs will then be given a basket of surprise ingredients and 60 minutes to prepare an entrée.
Food professionals judging the event are Roadfood author Jane Stern, Yale culinary director Ron DeSantis, and wine and cheese connoisseur Monica Brown. Amy Kundrat and Stephanie Webster of CTBites.com will serve as referees.
