Developer Steve Zemo has confirmed that a hotel is no longer in his plans for five acres of former Schlumberger land he purchased from the town three years ago.
An application that included a hotel, an office building and a storage facility was presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), but was withdrawn some months ago.
Zemo said Friday, April 10, that a hotel isn’t part of the revised plan he’s now working on.
“The plan was pulled because of a number of issues raised by the WPCA, the Conservation Commission, and the Planning and Zoning Commission — issues and conditions that taken collectively would have made our plan impossible to implement,” Zemo said.
“We have moved beyond this and have been working on new options and uses for the site.”
The five-acre property, which Zemo bought for $1.25 million, is off Old Quarry Road between the Treetops condominiums and the highway department barn, across the street from the main Schlumberger acreage.
The property is in a B-2 general business zone, which allows a wide variety of uses, from offices to warehousing, but does not permit retail stores.
