Ridgefield residents Rob Strom and his daughter Tammy will both take the stage when Troupers Light Opera presents Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe on Saturdays, April 11 and 18, in the Norwalk Concert Hall. Mr. Strom will play one of the pompous British lords, while Ms. Strom will play the role of Fleta, one of the fairies who take over Britain’s parliament in the name of true love. Both Stroms are veterans of the musical stage, Rob having acted and sung with Troupers Light Opera, the Ridgefield Chorale, and other theater and opera groups since 1973, and Tammy having performed with Spotlight Theater Workshop and the Ridgefield Theater Barn in addition to the Ridgefield Chorale.

Mr. Strom, a retired computer scientist and a tutor in math and science, is making his seventh appearance with Troupers Light Opera, having previously performed in The Red Mill (as Fanshawe), Iolanthe, Yeomen of the Guard, Die Fledermaus, and The Mikado. Since 1994 he has also been a volunteer music director for musical plays at Veterans Park Elementary School in Ridgefield. His daughter Tammy is in her third year with Troupers and is delighted to be sharing the stage with her father. Tammy is a board-certified music therapist and works for Connecticut Music Therapy Services, providing music therapy for children with disabilities. She also owns an art business, Works of Heart, selling hand-drawn cards and prints, creating custom portraits, and teaching art classes.

Joining the Stroms in Iolanthe will be fellow Ridgefield resident Ty Goff, Wilton’s Jim Cooper, and Norwalk residents Bob Scrofani (Private Willis), and Deborah Connelly (Celia), along with Wendy Falconer of Stamford (Iolanthe).

Performances are at the Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue, Norwalk, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at TroupersLightOpera.org or by calling 800-838-3006.
