Introduction to Acoustic Guitar is a new class available through Ridgefield Continuing Education. It will help students learn technique needed to deal with melodic, harmonic and rhythmic possibilities.
“How to get those favorite tunes from your ears to your fingers is the question we’ll try to answer for you,” said instructor Tom Elliott. Participants need to bring a playable acoustic guitar; visit ridgefieldschools.org/music.htm for list of other items to bring.
Mr. Elliott began the study of the guitar at age 10. He has traveled extensively with his own groups and appeared with Chuck Berry, The Who, Frank Zappa, and Albert King, among others. Since 1976, Mr. Elliott has operated his own guitar studio in Ridgefield. He has taught at WCSU and Wooster School. He also led his own popular music group and has appeared as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles.
Class meets on Mondays, March 30, April 6, 20 and 27, May 4, 11 and 18, and June 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at East Ridge Middle School and costs $135. Advance registration required. Ridgefield senior discount available. Visit ridgefieldschools.org or phone Peggy Bruno at 203-431-2812 for information.
