The Discovery Center at Ridgefield is hosting a guided bird walk for all ages on Saturday, March 21, at 8 a.m. on the grounds of the Garden of Ideas in Ridgefield. The Discovery Center birding programs take place each month at various locations and habitats around Ridgefield.
“An early morning walk on a bright morning is the perfect way to celebrate the first day of spring!” said organizers of the event. Discovery Center volunteer birder Noah Sferra will lead the stroll in search of birds through the meadows and woodland habitats of the property. Mr. Sferra will share a wealth of information on native birds and their ecology and conservation. Each participant will be given a Birds of Ridgefield checklist to keep. The program will continue with a field walk in this varied habitat area of Ridgefield. The birding program participants have been seeing at least 12 different songbirds on recent outings.
Warm clothes and winter/mud boots are advised. Binoculars will be available for participants to borrow.
All ages are welcome. The program is free of charge. Call 203-438-1063 or visit the Discovery Center website, ridgefielddiscovery.org, to make reservations.
