The Garden of Ideas at 653 North Salem Road has a full schedule of events for the entire family in the coming months. Programs will explore the crossroads of food, nature, art, and science.

“In support of our educational mission of environmental stewardship and social responsibility, we use our inspiring habitat as a backdrop for cross-generational, place-based learning with innovative programs that are led by creators, makers, growers, scientists, and naturalists to create a transformational experience for the people we serve,” said Suzanne Enser-Ryan, program director.

First among the planned events is a free Guided Bird Walk, presented with the Discovery Center, on March 21 at 8 a.m. Also presented with the Discovery Center is the Spring Peepers program on April 4 at 1 p.m. ($7). Visitors will have a chance to explore the world of those tiny but noisy frogs that announce the coming of spring. The Garden of Ideas provides a rich wetlands habitat for spring peepers.

Programs for children include Garden Fun for Toddlers (ages 2-4), Thursdays from April 30 to July 30 and Sept. 3 to 24, from 11 to 1, and Summer Camper: Play at the Garden Table (ages 5-8) in July — two-week, half-day sessions. For the whole family, the Garden of Ideas is hosting Garden Explorers — Family Sundays, May through October. Family members are invited to explore the garden’s marsh, meadow and woodlands at their own pace, free.

Other programs include Garden Lunch — Feed the Body, Expand the Mind the first Wednesday of each month, May-October, and a cooking class with chef Susie Buckley once a month, May-November, beginning May 2.
