From a live DJ in the lobby playing ‘80s tunes to quintessential ‘80s cocktails like Singapore Slings and Alabama Slammers, to a prize for the best dressed ‘80s outfit, on Saturday, March 28, The Ridgefield Playhouse is going retro. The highlight of the night is a newly restored high definition screening of the iconic ‘80s film The Breakfast Club, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, at 8 p.m.
All the extra lobby events begin at 7 p.m. The John Hughes film, which stars a young Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy, will not only bring back the great tunes of the era, including Simple Mind’s classic “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”, but it will also feature interviews and never seen before footage. This is more than just seeing a completely re-mastered feature film on the big screen again, this is an event! So get out your leg warmers and hair spray and get ready to dance, sing and party with The Breakfast Club! The Breakfast Club is Rated R.
With a total running time of 115 minutes, there is the inclusion of a newly remixed bonus featurette entitledThe Breakfast Club A Retrospective, which takes a look back at the film that defined a genre. It features personal insights from cast members Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall and John Kapelos as well as contributions from filmmakers Diablo Cody, Amy Heckerling and Michael Lehman — a must-see!
Movie synopsis: They were five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library. At 7 a.m., they had nothing to say, but by 4 p.m., they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. To the outside world they were simply a Brain, an Athlete, a Basket Case, a Princess, and a Criminal, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.
