If Mother Nature doesn’t drop any more snow this winter, the last day of school for students will be Thursday, June 18, following six cancellations this year.
The original last day of school for students was June 11.
In addition to the six snow days, there have been 11 delayed openings this winter and one early dismal, on Jan. 26.
The longest delay, three hours, has been used three times — Jan. 9 for elementary schools only; Jan. 12 for an ice, sleet mix that started around school start times; and Feb. 3, the day after an all-day snowstorm closed schools on Feb. 2.
Last week marked the first time that schools had been canceled twice in the same week. Superintendent Deborah Low issued a two-hour delay on Wednesday, March 4, and another two-hour delay on Thursday, March 5.
The other four closing days were Wednesday, Nov. 26; Tuesday, Jan. 27; Monday, Feb. 2; and Monday, Feb. 9.
If there’s a seventh closing day due to snow, the final day of school will be Friday, June 19.
