The Ridgefield Library and the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce have teamed up with the Volunteer Center of United Way of Western Connecticut to bring the center’s respected BoardServe training sessions to Ridgefield this month.

On Wednesday, March 18, from 9 to noon, staff from nonprofit agencies will be prepared to recruit, engage and utilize new board members.

A separate session on Saturday, March 28, from 9 to 3 trains potential board candidates and new board members in nonprofit governance so they possess the skills and experience that nonprofits seek in new board members.

A light breakfast will be served at both sessions, and lunch will be provided for the board candidate session on March 28. Both sessions will be held at the library at 472 Main Street in Ridgefield.

“There is a modest charge for attending these sessions,” noted library Assistant Director Mary Rindfleisch, who is active with the Chamber’s Nonprofit Council. “But the investment should pay off handsomely in improved and invigorated board functioning for Ridgefield’s nonprofit organizations. In a town like ours, where so many services are provided by agencies with volunteer boards of directors, it is crucial that these organizations have access to high-quality training such as BoardServe to help build their capacity and fulfill their mission.”

Further information about BoardServe and registration for the Ridgefield sessions may be found through the Volunteer Center of United Way of Western Connecticut online.
