Lightning strikes. Marauding animals. Rock falls. It’s best to be prepared — that’s the Boy Scouts’ philosophy. Adult leaders from Ridgefield’s three Boy Scout troops recently spent two days learning wilderness first aid techniques. The certification course, taught by the SOLO school of wilderness medicine, featured simulations of serious injuries that could occur in the outdoors and instructed leaders in how to treat them. Twenty-two adult leaders from Troops 116, 431 and 76 took part in the training at the Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
