The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield is gearing up for another holiday season with two family fun events, the 33rd annual Turkey Trot and Breakfast with Santa.
The 33rd annual Turkey Trot 5K and Kids Fun Run on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, will host more than 1,200 runners.
Registration for the Turkey Trot is available on the Boys & Girls Club website, bgcridgefield.org. All are welcome, from inexperienced joggers and walkers to marathon runners.
The half-mile Kids Fun Run starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K Turkey Trot follows at 8:30. Runners may also register in person at the club Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Early bird registration continues through Oct. 31, and pre-registration is available until the morning of the race. For registration information, call Gerry Hawaux at 203-438-8821, ext. 16.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, Santa is coming to the club. Breakfast with Santa will provide families with activities to enjoy during the town’s annual Holiday Stroll. Participants will enjoy breakfast, holiday games and crafts, and, of course, have the opportunity to meet Santa. Breakfast with Santa will take place from 8 to noon. Information on pricing and reservations will be available on the club’s website after Nov. 1.
Each year the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield raises more than $300,000 in private contributions to subsidize the cost of programs and ensure that it can provide affordable programming for all youth in the community. The Turkey Trot is the club’s largest fund-raising event, with all funds raised directly supporting programs for members. Both events provide an opportunity for sponsors and community members to invest in the club and Ridgefield’s youth while enjoying wonderful holiday traditions and family fun in town. For more information on either of the events or sponsorship information, call Mike Flynn, executive director, at 203-438-8821, ext. 15.
