The Board of Education voted unanimously Monday night to approve a three-year lease worth $77,073 with Arrow Capital Solutions to pay for security software.
The software lease will continue the use of Sophos EndUser Protection Suite, which provides the schools with anti-virus protection, malware protection, and other tracking features.
The district already uses Sophos.
“This is a renewal of our software license,” Craig Tunks, the district’s director of technology clarified. “We’ve been with them for six years so far and we’re renewing with that company, but they’re not dealing directly with kindergarten through grade 12 schools anymore so this contract is a three-year lease with that third party leasing agent…
“They no longer sell direct, they use a finance company,” he added. “The school district is receiving the same price and there are no changes to the software or the high level of support we receive.”
The contract totals $77,073, but paid yearly it will cost the board $25,691.
Mr. Tunks said that money for this year’s lease payment is included in the approved Board of Education budget.
“It’s the same number in the budget,” he explained. “It’s just a financial rearrangement with the company.”
