For kids ages, six and up, offerings from the Guild of Artists include Intro to Art, Art Studio, Sculpture and Traditional Drawing and Painting. There are after-school classes most days of the week and Saturday sessions, as well.
Adults can sign up for Printmaking Without A Press, Acrylic Painting, and Still Life Oil Painting, along with Painting with Jock MacRae, longstanding guild teacher, where artists can pick their medium. These classes run Monday through Thursday from 10 to 1. In addition, the guild offers drop-in Life Drawing sessions on Thursday evenings at 7:30.
The guild has expanded its workshop roster for the fall, as well. Workshops are held on Fridays or Sundays. Workshop participants can give a class a try without the commitment of a longer class schedule. This fall is packed with new workshops: Intro to Watercolor; Open – The Acrylic That Thinks It’s An Oil; Mixed Media Sampler; Exploring Visual Art Journaling; The Art of Framing; The Art of iphone Photography; and Plein Air Painting at Caramoor.
The guild will also participate in the townwide “Big Read” festivities in October. In keeping with The Great Gatsby theme, they offer an Art Deco Printmaking workshop.
The classes are open to beginner and seasoned artists alike. Call the guild at 203-438-8863 or visit its website, rgoa.org, for more details and to register.
