Bissell House’s David Fierstein created the scarecrow that received the most street-side ballot votes at the 2013 Fall for Ridgefield Weekend Scarecrow Contest.
Keeler Tavern Museum’s second annual Scarecrow Contest kicks off Monday, Sept. 29, when scarecrow frames ($25 each) become available for sale at the museum’s business office, 132 Main Street. Individuals, families, and businesses are invited to participate in the Scarecrow Contest by purchasing wooden frames and decorating and returning them to the museum by Wednesday, Oct. 15.
The museum’s Scarecrow Contest team will distribute the decorated scarecrows along Main Street and at Copps Hill Commons so that during Fall in Love with Ridgefield Weekend, Oct. 17 to 19, members of the public may vote for their favorite scarecrow. Prizes will be awarded for the scarecrows that receive the most votes on Facebook and at street-side ballot boxes. Last year’s Scarecrow Contest featured 24 imaginatively decorated scarecrows.
“ Scarecrow frame fees cover the cost of the frame materials and the prizes. More information about the contest, including scarecrow decorating suggestions, entry rules, and instructions for voting street-side and via social media, may be found on the museum’s website, keelertavernmuseum.org and on its Facebook page.
