Karen Berasi, the school district’s assistant superintendent of special services, will get an $11,000 bump in pay after being promoted to the new position. She was director of special education for the last six years until the Board of Education created the new position in August.
In her new position Ms. Berasi will earn $170,000 per year plus an annuity of $5,950.
She made $161,490 last year as the director of special education — the sixth highest paid position in the district. She was scheduled to make $165,043 in 2014-2015 with no annuity.
Because she was promoted during the school year, Ms. Berasi will have a prorated salary of $140,690 plus an annuity of $4,924 for the 2014-2015 school year.
The district’s only other assistant superintendent, Kimberly Beck, will earn $179,826 this year with a $6,743 annuity.
Both of the district’s assistant superintendents have one-year contracts.
