Ridgefield school received top grades on recent “report cards” issued by Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now — or ConnCAN.
The advocacy group gave 944 Connecticut public schools grades ranging from A through F.
Ridgefield High School, East Ridge and Scotts Ridge middle schools, and the district’s six elementary schools all received grades of “A” for overall performance. In addition, Ridgefield High School was ranked No. 5 in ConnCAN’s Top Ten Schools for Overall Student Performance.
The grades were based on student performance on the 2011-12 and 2012-13 Connecticut Mastery Tests (CMT) given in third to eighth grades, and the Connecticut Academic Performance Tests (CAPT), given in 10th grade.
There were 200 schools in Connecticut, including Ridgefield’s, that received an “A.” On the other end of the spectrum, 63 schools in the state got an “F,” meaning most students in those schools are significantly below grade level.
