A Ridgefielder and former treasurer and vice president of the Lewisboro Soccer Club was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing $198,000 from the organization.

David Loeffler, a former South Salem, N.Y., resident, was arraigned in Bedford Town Court on Thursday, Sept. 4, for second-degree grand larceny (a class C felony) and fourth-degree criminal tax fraud (a class E felony).

Mr. Loeffler posted bail and is due back in court on Monday, Sept. 15, in Lewisboro Justice Court, according to the Bedford Town Court.

The Westchester District Attorney’s Office is accusing Mr. Loeffler, now a resident of Ridgefield, of stealing $198,000 from the Lewisboro Soccer Club, now known as the John Jay Futbol Club (JJFC).

Mr. Loeffler, who has worked in financial planning and analysis, held several positions with the club between 2008 and 2012, most recently as its treasurer in 2012. He also served on the Katonah-Lewisboro school district’s finance committee for the 2012-13 school year.

According to a press release from the JJFC Board of Directors on Sept. 4, the organization “uncovered financial irregularities with the club’s bank account. The board immediately reported the matter to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, which opened an investigation.

“Over the past nine months the board has cooperated fully and assisted the DA’s investigation, which has led to an arrest today at Bedford Town Court. The club will seek full restitution.

“The club will continue to cooperate with the authorities in the ongoing investigation, and will provide additional information as permitted and in a manner not to impede the investigation or legal actions.”
