The anonymous drug take-back organized by the Ridgefield Police Department and Walgreens yielded 32 pounds of unwanted medications Saturday, July 19. “It’s really good for us considering it was only going for four hours,” said Police Capt. Jeff Kreitz. “We average around 30 to 35 pounds a month; it varies.”
All medications collected as part of the initiative were taken to an incineration facility for destruction.
The police have a drop box for prescription drugs in the department’s lobby, 76 East Ridge Road. Residents may drop off unwanted drugs at any hour.
