The legendary Three Dog Night super group will be once again in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, August 9, at 8 p.m. singing their impressive songbook.
The super rock band boasts some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music.
In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more Top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night. Their songs wind through the fabric of pop culture today. Whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures, it’s Three Dog Night that resonate with so many audiences — “Mama Told Me (Not To Come)”, “Joy to the World”, “Black and White”, “Shambala”, “One”, “Celebrate”, “Out in the Country”, “An Old-Fashioned Love Song”, “Try a Little Tenderness”, “Eli’s Coming” and “Easy to Be Hard” among others.
Each serves to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night’s continuing popularity.
Since 1986, the band has performed more than 2,200 shows including two Super Bowls and are still touring and recording. Three Dog Night was inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2000 and released two new singles in 2009 – “Heart of Blues” and “Prayer of the Children” – which are available exclusively online at iTunes.
Three Dog Night pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience the dynamic performances of their hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band’s 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night’s signature sound. Their well-loved hits plus some amazing new songs are performed for audiences spanning generations by founding members Cory Wells and Danny Hutton on lead vocals, as well as original keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon and guitarist Michael Allsup. Paul Kingery (bass and vocals) and Pat Bautz (drums) complete the lineup.
Special guest is The Way-Back Machine, four musicians from Connecticut who share a passion for the music of the ‘60s and ‘70s and play “the music that takes you back”. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt’l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d’oeuvre and priority parking is available for this show, which is part of the Xfinity Rock Series.
For tickets ($87.50), call the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795.
