Leon McCadden, 66, coach, IBM employee

Leon McCadden, 66, of Ridgefield died on Monday, July 7 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.

Mr. McCadden, son of William and Lessie McCadden, was born on March 9, 1948, and grew up in Hampton, Virginia. He graduated from Hampton University and worked at IBM for 33 years until he retired.

He enjoyed playing sports, especially tennis, and coached his children’s basketball and soccer teams in Ridgefield for many years. He also enjoyed music, science fiction movies, and photography.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gail Johnson McCadden, his children, Jessica McCadden of Stamford, CT and Brandon McCadden of Arlington, VA, mother, Lessie McCadden, siblings William McCadden Jr., LaVerne McCadden, and Sherri Perry, and nephews, William Walker and Eric Hagwood.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
