The Rotary Club recently presented a check for $1,954 for the Ridgefield Little League’s 60th Anniversary season. The odd amount on the check maps directly to the year that Rotary sponsored the first team in 1954.
“The Little League and the board of directors are very happy with the Rotary’s sponsorship of our 60th Anniversary season,” said league President Patrick Misciagna. He continued, “The Little League has a rich history due to the historical support of organizations like the Rotary.”
First Selectman Rudy Marconi, who was on hand for the ceremonial giving of the sponsorship check, said, “The Little League is an institution in Ridgefield. I am proud to say that I was a member of the Little League when it was established in 1954.”
Rotary Vice President and President-elect Rich Vazzana said, “The Rotary Club is looking forward to a great 60th season of baseball with the Little League. Patrick and the board have planned some great events to celebrate this important milestone.”
The 60th Anniversary kicked off with Opening Day on April 26. Other events that will celebrate the Little League’s longevity will include the pancake breakfast, the SlugFest, Championship Weekend, and the 60th Anniversary Gala on June 7.
