W-Barrack-Hill-CleanupA few neighbors gathered Saturday, April 19, to pick up litter along Barrack Hill Road and in Levy Park. Barrack Hill Cleanup is an annual event that has been organized over the years by the Bates family. When the Bates girls were in residence, they led the effort and recruited friends to help. They are at college or living in other states, so mom and dad have taken the reins. This year, members of the Hughes family and Lori Peterson joined in. Pictured above left to right are Alan Bates, Allie Hughes, Davor Dujmovic, Elizabeth Bates, and Shirley Hughes. Bottles, cans, paper, plastic, and miscellaneous building materials are the typical stuff picked out of the woods along the road — eight or nine bags of it this year. Parks and Rec picked up the small heap the following Monday.
