Historian and former Ridgefielder Keith Marshall Jones III will return to town and join Colonial era re-enactors for the Ridgefield Historical Society’s celebration of the Battle of Ridgefield’s 237th anniversary.
The Revolutionary War encampment, book-signing and history talk on the battle will take place on Saturday, April 26, at the Ridgefield Historical Society’s Scott House at 4 Sunset Lane, off Grove Street.
Starting at noon, Mr. Jones will sign copies of the his book Farmers Against the Crown, a detailed account of the battle, first published in 2002. At 2 Mr. Jones will give a talk on the 1777 battle.
The encampment, from 1 to 4, will feature the New York state-based re-enactment troop Delancey’s Brigade performing drills, the Germantown Ancients fife and drum corps from Danbury, as well as displays of Colonial era artifacts by re-enactors, including a whitesmith, an apothecary and a surgeon.
