Former Ridgefield resident Bob Soloff’s Sonics & Materials celebrated its 45th anniversary with a gala luncheon on March 20 at its headquarters in Newtown, marking 45 years of manufacturing in the state of Connecticut as a leading supplier of plastics welding systems.

Sonics & Materials Inc. was started in 1969 in Danbury by Mr. Soloff, who remains president and chief executive officer. His daughter, Lauren Soloff, is executive vice president.

The company was joined in its celebration, which also coincided with Mr. Soloff’s 75th birthday, by several local, state and federal officials, including Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty, Newtown First Selectman Patricia Llodra, and a representative from Sen. Richard Blumenthal’s office.
