Linda Merlino
The Connecticut Press Club, a sub-chapter of the National Federation of Press Women, announced that its prestigious Best Fiction Award for 2014 has been given to Ridgefield author Linda Merlino for her recent release Room of Tears.
Garnering first place is a notable accomplishment and automatically advances Ms. Merlino into the 2014 National Federation of Press Women’s competition.
Ms. Merlino began writing fiction as a young mother on the sidelines of endless soccer practices, driving around with a manuscript that filled a carton in the back seat of her car. Many years have passed since those early beginnings, but her work continues to be inspired by her children, she said. Ms. Merlino has a fascination with heroes and writes her fiction to honor ordinary men and women who react unselfishly in extraordinary circumstances.
