George and Linda Karaffa of Ridgefield have announced the engagement of their son, George William Karaffa Jr. to Carissa Jean Lang, daughter of Mark and Kay Lang of Pittsford, N.Y.
Mr. Karaffa graduated from Wilton High School in 2002 and from University of Rhode Island with a bachelor of arts in coastal marine management in 2006. He has been employed for six years as the manager of Eastern Mountain Sports Outdoor Schools division and lives in North Conway, N.H.
Miss Lang graduated from Pittsford-Mendon High School in 2006 and from Houghton College in 2010 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education. She plans to graduate with her masters in sports administration from Canisius College in the spring of 2015. She worked for four years as a physical education teacher and field hockey coach for Kennett High School, as well as the Mount Washington Valley lacrosse coach in North Conway. Carissa is going into her fourth year of coaching the MWV lacrosse team, which was the state champion team in 2010 and made it to playoffs and semi-finals in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The couple plans to live in North Conway after their marriage in Pittsford, in August 2015.
