Former Ridgefield resident George Jepsen announced this week that he plans to seek re-election as Connecticut’s Attorney General in 2014.
“It has been an absolute privilege to serve the people of Connecticut as Attorney General,” said Mr. Jepsen. “I have tried to approach this important job with great care and respect for the responsibility that is inherent in the office – recognizing the need to protect state taxpayers and consumers while ensuring that legitimate, hardworking business owners are treated fairly. I would be deeply honored to earn another term in order to continue the work we have begun over the past three and a half years.”
“In my first term, we had many accomplishments that saved money for state taxpayers, protected consumers against fraud and provided direct relief to Connecticut families still struggling from the effects of the nationwide recession,” said Mr. Jepsen. “Like many Connecticut households, the Attorney General’s Office, during my administration, has had to do more with less, and I’m proud that my team of talented and dedicated attorneys have brought over a billion dollars back to the state budget and taxpayers during my first term. In budget year 2013 alone, we produced $537M for the state.”
“Connecticut has become a national leader on privacy, antitrust, finance and a multitude of other matters, and I look forward to discussing these and other issues with the people of Connecticut during this campaign.”
Scott Jackson, Mayor of Hamden, will serve as Jepsen’s Campaign Treasurer.
