Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue has named Tom Reynolds a recipient of the 2014 Community Star Award. Mr. Reynolds was honored at ROAR’s annual “Roar With Laughter” gala, held on Feb. 22.
Mr. Reynolds served on ROAR’s board of directors from 2005 to 2010, and has continued to serve on the advisory board since 2010.
“Tom is the rock every nonprofit board dreams of having,” said Jane Turner, former ROAR president. “He has been a trusted resource and advocate for our organization.”
Since 2005, ROAR has placed 4,000 neglected and unwanted cats and dogs in homes throughout Ridgefield and the surrounding towns. Besides operating a shelter for unwanted animals, ROAR offers community outreach programs to educate schoolchildren on the responsibilities of pet ownership, as well as offering dog therapy programs to the elderly and kids with special needs.
Mr. Reynolds is currently a police commissioner and has served on many volunteer boards in Ridgefield and the surrounding area.
