Three cars were broken into at a gym parking lot off Grove Street business between 9 and 10 this morning.
Police Capt. Jeff Kreitz said that two of the vehicles were forcibly entered and had smashed windows.
All three incidents involved an unidentified suspect stealing purses from the vehicles.
“It’s still under investigation,” he said. “We don’t know what was used to break the glass.”
He added that the purses contained various items, but the contents were “nothing out of the ordinary.”
Police were called at 9:52 a.m. about a Subaru that had a smashed window and a purse taken from inside.
Police arriving on the scene found that another car had been broken into.
Capt. Kreitz said that the department has responded to four vehicle larcenies so far this year, one of which was a forced entry — a robbery — that came on March 22.
“It happens occasionally,” he said. “With the three today, we have seven on the year.”
