Young Ridgefield philanthropists are helping a Bridgeport school which had its baseball season hampered when equipment was stolen.
This year, Lion’s Heart 2018 Yellow chapter decided they wanted to collect sports equipment for underprivileged youth. They started asking around, and found out that Bassick High School in Bridgeport needed help.
The varsity coach, Coach Padilla, said that funding for athletics was very tight, and that they were in desperate need of bats, gloves, and balls.
They also need batting helmets, a batting tee, and a batting cage net.
Lion’s Heart 2018 Yellow will be collecting gently used and new baseball equipment for the team for the next few weeks. All donations can be dropped off at Tiger Sports, at 27 Catoonah Street.
Lion’s Heart is a teen community service organization.
