DeFENCEless Gardening in Deer Country is the topic of a new workshop in Ridgefield Continuing Education. Master Gardener Alison Wachstein says, “Have you lost your shrubs to the deer? Have critters dug up your flower bulbs? Have you given up on having an attractive garden?” This informative presentation is about how you can win the battle against furry friends.
Discussion includes deer habits, deer-“resistant” plants and deer “candy” plants to avoid (or protect), coping strategies, as well as a display of some delightful garden photography. Ms. Wachstein has been gardening and dealing with the deer population in Connecticut for more than 25 years. She’s also a certified professional photographer and master photographer. Class meets on Monday, April 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at East Ridge Middle School. Cost is $31. Advance registration is required. Visit ridgefieldschools.org or phone Peggy Bruno at 203-431-2812 to register.
